Fun on the Farm (Family)
Location: Country Critters Farm

Bring the family out for our Fun on the Farm event at Country Critters Farm. Activities include the bounce house, tractor and train playground, the petting zoo, a pony ride, train ride, hayride, the maze, and western games. This event is fun for the whole family. This event runs weekends, May 1st through July 3rd, 2010. Check our website for times and details.

A Musical Fourth (Festival)
Location: The Chapel of the Cross

The rat-tat of a snare drum leads off as voices burst into the air singing The Star Spangled Banner at the seventh annual Musical Fourth concert. The free patriotic program followed by a barbecue and pie tasting starts at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at The Chapel of the Cross, 4333 Cole Avenue, two blocks south of Knox Street in Uptown Dallas. Audience sing-alongs of flag-waving favorites include “America, the Beautiful” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” and “God Bless America.” Choral anthems include old favorites, such as “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Armed Forces Medley.” Although there is no admittance charge to the concert or barbecue, a free-will offering will be taken up to help defray costs. This exhibition of forty landmark and lesser-known works by the renowned artist-photographer is drawn from the Carter’s holdings and a private collection.Ansel Adams was the last major artist to subscribe to the romantic tradition of American landscape, an artistic lineage that included Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, William Henry Jackson and Carleton Watkins. He excelled at capturing a glorious American West before tourism and development marked the land. His goal was “to rekindle an appreciation of the marvelous.”
