1st Annual Tarrant County Harambee Festival (A Cultural, Educational, and Health Fair)

The Tarrant County Black Historical and Genealogical Society is proud to present the 1st Annual Tarrant County Harambee Festival. The festival is one part of a series of events celebrating the completion of the Society’s Lenora Rolla Heritage Center Museum. In Swahili, “harambee” literally means “pull together,” and at this event, the entire Tarrant County Community will pull together in celebration of our shared history. The festival will feature a variety of activities for both children and adults centered on African-American history designed to promote love and harmony among people of all color. We will enjoy ongoing music and dance performances. In addition, the Museum will host an open house so that the public can share in the Society’s excitement for its completion. While festivals like this one exist in most great cities across the nation, this is the first time an event such as this has occurred in Tarrant County and Fort Worth.

Cowtown Farmers Market, Fort Worth's only local-only producer farmers market, is now open from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays through November at 3821 Southwest Blvd. This is in addition to the 8 a.m. to noon Saturday hours, which are year-round.

The US Navy Blue Angels, the US Air Force F-22 Raptor and the US Army Golden Knights will be featured on October 30 and 31, 2010 in North Texas. Experience a full day of dynamic aviation performances, static display, interactive booths, Kid Zone and more.Admission is FREE. Parking is $20 per vehicle. Gates are open from 9 am to 5 pm. The same show is held from approximately 10 am to 4 pm both days. The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show is a non-profit event with the goal of raising funds for beneficiaries in Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

This exhibition of forty landmark and lesser-known works by the renowned artist-photographer is drawn from the Carter’s holdings and a private collection.Ansel Adams was the last major artist to subscribe to the romantic tradition of American landscape, an artistic lineage that included Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, William Henry Jackson and Carleton Watkins. He excelled at capturing a glorious American West before tourism and development marked the land. His goal was “to rekindle an appreciation of the marvelous.”
